Daniel Padilla Affirms Star Status Via Successful Big Dome ConcertDaniel Padilla has arrived! He is now among the biggest stars not just in ABS-CBN but also in the entire show business industry after the success of his recent concert. ‘Daniel Padilla Live: A Birthday Concert’ was staged at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City last April 30 (Tuesday). It was overwhelmingly successful.
The venue was jam-packed by teenagers and girls, mostly fans of the teen heartthrob. Before the concert started, the Big Dome was filled by deafening screams of his loyal followers. Anyone in the venue can easily assert that Padilla is indeed the hottest male young star of his generation.
Almost everyone in the coliseum went bonkers especially when Padilla finally appeared on stage. Many observers noted that he was impressive enough because he was confident. Anyone may not be able to tell that it was the male star’s first major concert. Rapport was instantly established between the matinee idol and his fans.
No one can deny the fact that Padilla looked very overwhelmed and proud the moment he stepped on the stage. He performed an ensemble that comprised mostly of tracks from his two albums to date. He has changed his outfits for a total of six times.
So what was so historic about the concert aside from it was Padilla’s first? It would be noted in local entertainment history as the very first major concert that was streamed live via Sky Cable’s pay per view services. (Sky Cable is a subsidiary of ABS-CBN.)
Thus, his loyal fans in far provinces who were not able to fly to Manila to see the event were able to take part in the occasion by subscribing to the pay TV service. Many followers in Iloilo, Cebu, and Davao signed up for the live streaming access via cable pay TV.
The concert’s organizers obviously hired entertaining and engaging guests to back up the new matinee idol. The first guest to perform was The Journey’s lead vocalist Arnel Pineda. According to Padilla, he has always been a fan of Pineda even before his showbiz days.
Comedienne Pokwang brought the house down when she impersonated the infamous Mommy Dionisia. She was accompanied by lookalikes of Manny and Jinkee Pacquiao. Other Star Magic talents performed like Star Circle 2013’s Khalil Ramos and PBB Teen’s Kit Thompson (also from the latest Star Circle batch).
Padilla performed a number with some of his siblings. His band Parking Five also did a number. Yeng Constantino was among the most well applauded guests. Of course, Padilla’s love team partner Kathryn Bernardo was present. Her appearance further aggravated the screams from fans. Later on, Vice Ganda stepped in to tease the two, to the delight of the love team’s supporters.
Meanwhile, ABS-CBN president Charo Santos-Concio was among the popular celebrities who were spotted in the audience. Also present were Padilla’s mom Karla Estrada and his dad Rommel Padilla, brother of action star Robin Padilla and controversial celebrity BB Gandanghari (formerly Rustom Padilla).
