Marian Rivera, a famous actress in the Philippines, recently shared her personal insecurities in an interview with Karen Davila. The interview, which was part of Karen’s Women’s Month vlog series, took place on March 20, 2025. In it, Marian openly talked about her struggles with body image and speaking English, showing her honest and real side to her fans.
Marian talked about how, during her pageant days, she always felt insecure about her height. “Before, when I joined pageants, I was always the smallest,” she said. She also mentioned that she sometimes felt self-conscious about her hips. Marian jokes, “Sometimes when I wear a dress, I think my hips are too big. I say, hello Spanish blood,” referring to her heritage.
Another issue Marian talked about was her worry about speaking English. She explained that, when she was growing up in Cavite, they didn’t speak much English. “In Cavite, we didn’t speak much English, even at school,” she said. But when she moved to Manila, she realized that speaking English was important for interviews and everyday life.
Marian admitted that she felt pressure to speak English fluently. “Speaking English became a big deal when I moved to Manila,” she explained. However, Marian feels most comfortable speaking Tagalog. She said, “I’m okay with how I speak now because this is where I’m comfortable.”
Marian’s daughter, Zia, is very fluent in English and even speaks with a British accent. Marian shared a funny story where Zia asked her to put her things in the “bin,” and Marian didn’t know what a “bin” was. She laughed, saying, “Zia teaches me so much, it’s amazing.”
During the interview, Marian showed her funny side by imitating her daughter’s English accent. This made Karen Davila laugh out loud. Marian’s lightheartedness and honest answers won the hearts of many viewers. She also said, “I’m okay with how I am now, but I can try if you want,” making her fans smile.
