The San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) is gearing up for a dose of Filipino rock royalty with the world premiere of the “Eraserheads: Combo on the Run” documentary trailer.
This isn’t just any documentary but a deep dive into the iconic band that soundtracked a generation’s lives and provided solace during turbulent times.
Directed by Maria Diane Ventura, the documentary promises to be more than just a band biopic. In fact, filming began during the monumental “Huling El Bimbo” reunion concert in Manila, a cathartic experience for both the band and the nation still reeling from political divisions.
“Combo on the Run” explores the fascinating paradox of the Eraserheads, a group once known as “unlikely punks” who, through their music, became symbols of healing for a divided nation, as even they wrestled with their own internal struggles.
Adding to the excitement
Eraserheads frontman Ely Buendia will be attending SDCC! Fans can catch him on a panel alongside the creators of the Filipino-American comic “The Legendary Lumpia Squad,” where the Eraserheads will also be making a special guest appearance. Buendia will further connect with fans at an autograph session on July 27th.
The Eraserheads, currently on their “Huling El Bimbo” world tour, continue to hold a legendary status among Filipinos worldwide.
