Actor and Senator Lito Lapid has sparked renewed attention as his “love team” with actress Lorna Tolentino continues to captivate audiences of FPJ’s Batang Quiapo. Despite their chemistry on-screen, Lapid, 69, quickly addressed rumors, emphasizing the professional nature of their pairing.

During a media gathering, Lapid thanked audiences for continuing to embrace him. “Maybe I’m the oldest actor with a love team. It’s an honor to still be accepted,” he shared. Fans have coined the duo “PriManda,” a nod to their characters Primo and Amanda, whose storylines blend drama and action.

He admitted he was initially doubtful about their partnership. “I thought it wouldn’t work because of our age. I even asked myself, ‘Am I still cute?’ But PriManda turned out strong, especially online,” he said, giving credit to director Coco Martin for crafting engaging storylines.

While Lapid enjoys the role, he acknowledged the family dynamics it affects. His son, Mark Lapid, a co-star on the show and a government official, revealed he reassured his mother, Marissa Tadeo, that the pairing was strictly work-related. “It’s part of the job,” Mark explained.

Lapid recounted candid conversations with his wife, who initially felt jealous about his role. “I told her, ‘If we switched roles and you had a love team, I’d feel the same way. But this is my job, and I don’t know anything else,’” he said. Despite her concerns, he reassured her by pointing to their nearly 50 years of marriage.

He also addressed teasing from colleagues and clarified their professional boundaries. “Lorna is single, but I’m not. He laughed off rumors while stressing his commitment to his wife. “What we have is just for the screen,” he said.

As FPJ’s Batang Quiapo approaches its conclusion, Lapid looks forward to continuing his career while maintaining harmony at home. His onscreen journey with Tolentino may be ending, but it has left an impression on both fans and family.
