Korina Sanchez Leaves Her DZMM Radio ShowAlmost two months after her controversial issue with CNN’s Anderson Cooper regarding super typhoon Yolanda devastation, Korina Sanchez decided to discontinue her radio show that is aired every morning at ABS-CBN’s AM radio station, DZMM.
The management of the radio station has confirmed reports that ‘Rated Korina’ will not be airing beginning Monday, January 6. People from the radio station revealed that Korina will be busy completing her master’s degree. Other insiders from the radio station said Korina will soon be studying in London.
But the feisty radio commentator and TV news anchor released a somehow confusing statement about the matter. In that official statement, Korina did not directly admitted ‘resigning’ from her daily morning radio show. Instead, she stated that she is merely taking leave of absence to give more time to her personal errands.
In the same statement, Korina reiterated that she needs to finish her master’s degree at the Ateneo de Manila University. She disclosed that she already informed her ABS-CBN bosses about this decision as early as June 2013. Korina even asserted that she could always get back to work whenever she wants to, but she could not take forever to finish her degree.
Amy and Marc
So who would replace her timeslot at DZMM? It would be no other than Amy Perez and Marc Logan. Korina announced this on her statement. She revealed that the replacement show would be called ‘Sakto’ and would be taking over the 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. timeslot on the radio station. Korina even described the new show as a ‘light positive show.’
Korina also said that she asked Amy and Marc to continue promoting her ‘tsinelas’ campaign even while she is gone. Amy confirmed the report herself and even disclosed that what she has heard from the station was that Korina will leave her radio show to study abroad.
The new radio show to replace ‘Rated Korina’ will serve as Amy’s homecoming at DZMM. It can be recalled that she used to host her own radio show (‘About Me and You) before she decided to resign and transfer to TV5, where she did ‘Face to Face’ for a couple of years.
On the last quarter of last year, Amy resigned from her TV5 show due to irreconcilable differences with the staff. She declined to do the replacement TV show because she was still not ready to work with the same staff. It was then that she returned to ABS-CBN, where she now co-hosts ‘The Singing Bee’ with Roderick Paulate.
Korina still on TV
Meanwhile, Korina will not be gone for good. She clarified that she will be gone only on DZMM. She would continue reading the news for ‘TV Patrol’ and presenting TV advertorials for ‘Rated K.’ She even renewed her contract with ABS-CBN recently.
Korina’s expected resignation
The resignation is somehow backing speculations that she is now at odds with the management of DZMM. She was reportedly suspended by the station during the height of her controversy with Anderson Cooper. It was on the radio show ‘Rated Korina’ where the feisty lady broadcaster accused Anderson of not actually knowing what he was talking about when he reported the misfortune and supposed lack of government action during the onslaught of Yolanda devastation in Tacloban last November.
