Alden Richards and Julia Barretto will star together in the Philippine adaptation of the 2013 Thai hit film Pee Mak. This marks the first time these two popular stars will work together on a film.
The collaboration between Viva Films and Myriad Entertainment, Alden’s multimedia company, is set to bring the successful Thai movie to Filipino audiences. The adaptation has generated excitement, especially with the involvement of two of the Philippines’ most beloved actors.
Pee Mak, originally starring Mario Maurer and Davika Hoorne, became Thailand’s highest-grossing film of all time. Released in 2013, it blends supernatural, horror, comedy, and romance. The story follows Mak, who returns home from war and finds his life changing in eerie and mysterious ways. With his four comrades by his side, Mak’s journey unfolds into a tale of love, mystery, and the supernatural.
In the Philippine version, Alden and Julia will take on the roles originally played by Mario Maurer and Davika Hoorne. While details about their characters remain under wraps, fans are eager to see how the Filipino adaptation will capture the essence of the original film.
Alden, known for his role in Hello, Love, Again with ABS-CBN’s Kathryn Bernardo, continues to expand his career. This upcoming project marks his second collaboration with a top ABS-CBN actress, following his previous film partnership.
The announcement follows the successful launch of Myriad Entertainment’s first film, OOO (Out of Order), which will soon stream on Netflix. This film also stars Alden, alongside Heaven Peralejo. The contract signing for the Pee Mak adaptation took place recently, with Vic del Rosario of Viva Group of Companies and Alden Richards present to seal the deal.
As both Alden and Julia take on this exciting new challenge, Filipino fans can look forward to a fresh take on the Pee Mak story, blending humor, romance, and the supernatural with a distinctly Filipino touch. Until then, stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated film.
