BINI’s Maloi Ricalde set the record straight regarding rumors linking her to singer-songwriter Rico Blanco. Meanwhile, the speculation started after a photo of them in La Union began circulating online. Maloi discussed the issue during the group’s guest appearance on Fast Talk With Boy Abunda last Friday.
During the interview, Boy Abunda asked Maloi how she deals with false reports.
“Hindi na siya mawawala as a public figure. May mga tao talagang gagawa ng fake news. Feeling ko, it just shows na you are relevant,” she said. Maloi emphasized that she remains focused on her work and and chooses to avoid negativity.
“As long as wala kang natatapakang tao, okay lang. Pero ‘yung fake news, nandiyan na ‘yan, so stop spreading fake news this 2025. Stop it.”
Abunda then asked Maloi about the most recent false claim about her. She immediately pointed to the dating rumors with Rico Blanco, which emerged in early January.
She explained that it was the first time they met in person, moreover, they were with mutual friends. The group included Ben&Ben’s Pat Lasaten and Agnes Reoma, singer-songwriter Ischi, Over October’s Joshua Caleb Lua, Blaster Silonga, Zild Benitez, and lifestyle photographer Shaira Luna. Furthermore, they gathered at Rico’s newly opened Motel Mambo in La Union.
Maloi shared that the viral image was misleading. “May videos ‘yung Blooms (BINI fans) na in-upload sa X, tapos may na-crop, na-screenshot sa bad angle. Parang nag-holding hands kami, pero hindi naman,” she said. The manipulated image quickly spread, leading to misleading headlines.
She acted fast to debunk the rumors. “Nung nakita ko ‘yun, nag-tweet agad ako ng ‘Stop spreading fake news’ kasi ayoko nang lumaki pa ‘yung gulo. Gusto ko nang linawin agad.”
Meanwhile, BINI remains focused on their upcoming “Grand BINIverse: The Repeat” concert on February 15 at the Philippine Arena. This show marks the start of their world tour, with stops in Singapore, Dubai, London, and the United States.
BINI continues to dominate the P-pop scene, proving that their growing influence comes with both admiration and scrutiny. Despite the noise, the group remains committed to their craft and their fans.
