Gary Valenciano is set to light up the Araneta Coliseum with “Pure Energy: One More Time,” a two-day concert celebrating his 40-year milestone in the music industry. The event, scheduled just days before Christmas, marks the culmination of his sold-out concert series earlier this year and promises a heartfelt finale for a good cause.
Known as “Mr. Pure Energy,” Gary’s journey began at the same venue in 1984, where he launched his storied career. This finale concert symbolizes a full-circle moment, honoring four decades of passion, resilience, and iconic performances. “This is one last time for a concert of this magnitude before transitioning to more intimate formats. It’s my way of celebrating 40 years in music.” Gary shared during a press conference, reflecting on this milestone.
The setlist will feature Gary’s signature hits like “Hataw Na” and “Shout for Joy,” alongside ballads that have defined his career. Audiences can also expect his rendition of Chick Corea’s classic “Spain,” a performance that has garnered millions of views online. Adding to the excitement, his repertoire will include a medley of movie themes, blending nostalgia with fresh energy.
The concert will showcase a star-studded lineup of guests. Regine Velasquez, Ogie Alcasid, and Maymay Entrata will join the first night, while SB19, Gloc-9, Darren Espanto, and Jay Durias will highlight the second. Gary’s own children will also take the stage, making the event a family affair.
Despite facing Type 1 Diabetes for 45 years and health challenges in recent years, Gary’s commitment to his craft remains unshaken. At 60, he continues to inspire, proving age and obstacles are no barriers to passion. Looking ahead, he will reprise a role in Joseph the Dreamer next year, bringing new depth to a celebrated production.
“Pure Energy: One More Time” is more than a concert. It’s a tribute to perseverance, artistry, and a lifetime dedicated to music.
