Gerald Anderson, known for his work in Philippine television, has taken on a meaningful new role. On November 13, he became an auxiliary captain in the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA).
The ceremony happened aboard the BRP Teresa Magbanua with his girlfriend Julia Barretto, her mother Marjorie Barretto, and his father Gerald Anderson Sr. present. Philippine Coast Guard Commandant Adm. Ronnie Gil Gavan presided over the event, while Senator Robin Padilla supported the resolution for Anderson’s promotion.
A Heartfelt Commitment to Service
Gerald Anderson expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity, emphasising that his promotion represents more than personal success—it’s a meaningful responsibility. He aims to support the Coast Guard by boosting morale and recognising their dedication. Reflecting on his involvement during Typhoon Carina, where he used an inflatable pool to aid in flood rescue operations, Anderson now plans to create a specialised search-and-rescue squadron. His vision is to enhance disaster response capabilities and strengthen the Coast Guard’s humanitarian efforts.
Anderson also hopes to increase public awareness of the Coast Guard’s role. He plans to invite fellow celebrities, including members of his celebrity basketball group, to join the PCGA. He believes their presence could help amplify the organisation’s mission and encourage others to contribute to its cause.
Julia Barretto Shares Her Admiration
During the ceremony, Julia Barretto stood by Anderson’s side, expressing her admiration for his dedication. When asked about their future as a couple, she shared that they are focused on supporting each other’s dreams and enjoying life together, one step at a time.
This inspiring journey highlights Gerald Anderson’s commitment to public service and his desire to make a meaningful impact, both as an actor and as a leader in the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary.
