Hev Abi: Spotify Philippines’ Top Local Artist
Hev Abi claimed the title of Spotify Philippines’ Top Local Artist for 2024. His hit song “Babaero” became the year’s most-streamed local track, while another favourite, “Walang Alam,” secured fourth place. Sharing his thoughts on the recognition, Hev said, “Ginagawa ko lang ‘yung music na gusto kong mapakinggan. ‘Yung recognition ng mga tao, ng Spotify, bonus na lang.” This humility resonates with his commitment to making relatable music that fans love.
BINI: P-Pop Powerhouse
P-pop group BINI ranked as the second most-streamed local artist of the year. Their hit “Pantropiko” took fifth place on Spotify Wrapped’s Top Local Songs list, reinforcing their growing impact in the P-pop scene. Their success highlights the rise of P-pop as a prominent genre in the Philippines.
The list of top local artists reflected the diversity of OPM. Arthur Nery, TJ Monterde, and Ben&Ben made significant contributions, showcasing a wide range of musical styles. Songs like Maki’s “Dilaw” and Dionela’s “Sining” also resonated with listeners, earning spots in the Top 5 Local Songs.
On the global front, Taylor Swift retained her position as Spotify’s Top Global Artist, a title she also held in the Philippines. The country’s Top 5 Artists included Hev Abi, Ariana Grande, BINI, and Bruno Mars, demonstrating Filipino listeners’ love for both local and international music.
