The Department of Health received the first batch of donations from Jack Ma Foundation and Alibaba Foundation. Jack Ma Foundation is a charitable organization founded in 2014 by Jack Ma, Executive Chairman of Alibaba Group. The foundation’aims to promote human development in harmony with both society and the environment. Furthermore, it’s mission is to work towards a world of bluer skies, cleaner water, healthier communities, and more open thinking.
Parts of its mission recently is to send its donations to the four Southeast Asian countries, including Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines and Malaysia. The foundation gives a combined total of 2 million face masks, 150,000 testing kits, 20,000 protective suits and 20,000 face shields.
The foundation hopes that the donation they gave will help Filipinos to combat COVID-19. Moreover, the second batch of their donation will reach the country next week.
The target of the foundation is to support the countries that are most affected by the crisis. They also funded research that will possibly cure COVID-19.
