Fresh from his sold-out two-day Maki-Concert at New Frontier Theater, Maki has released a new single, Bughaw. The song dives into themes of friendship and shared emotions, continuing his color-inspired series that began with Dilaw and Namumula.
He describes Bughaw as a song meant to unite friends. “Itong kanta na ‘to gusto ko maging anthem siya ng magto-tropa. Sabay natin habulin ang dulo ng bughaw,” he shared. The track turns sorrow into something meaningful, symbolized by the calming blue of the sky and sea. “Kahit tumanda tayo at magkakalayo, look at the sky—it’s just the same. Kung iiyak ka, iiyak din ako,” he added, highlighting the enduring bond between friends even in distance.
Bughaw premiered live during the Maki-Concert held on November 29 and 30. Its heartfelt lyrics and uplifting melody resonated with the audience, solidifying its place as a tribute to friendships that withstand life’s changes.
Maki’s rising career shows no signs of slowing. The Kapamilya artist is set to bring his Maki-Concert to new audiences next year, with performances at Cebu’s Waterfront Hotel and Casino on January 11 and Baguio’s University of Baguio on January 24. The regional tour will also include a stop in Cagayan de Oro. Tickets for the Cebu leg are available through SM Tickets.
