Veteran actress Maricel Soriano finds herself at the center of controversy, firmly denying allegations linking her to illegal drugs and purported Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) documents. It’s a dramatic issue revealed during a public hearing at the Senate, and Soriano didn’t mince her words when confronted with the accusations.

Maricel Soriano faced probing questions from Senate committee chairman Sen. Ronald dela Rosa about the viral documents allegedly associating her with illicit activities. With resolve, Soriano asserted her innocence, stating that she had no prior knowledge of the papers until they were brought to her during the hearing. 

One of the critical points of contention revolved around a property linked to Maricel Soriano, prompting Dela Rosa to inquire about her ownership of unit 46-C Rizal Tower in Makati City. Soriano acknowledged her past ownership but clarified that she had sold the unit in 2012, deflecting any insinuations of impropriety surrounding the property.

Despite Soriano’s composed demeanor, tensions ran high as Dela Rosa delved into past allegations, including reports from 2011 involving complaints lodged against Soriano by former household workers. The actress vehemently refuted claims of cocaine use and physical abuse, asserting that the workers had left her employment after committing theft.

As the hearing progressed, it became evident that Maricel Soriano was grappling with the weight of the accusations and the intense scrutiny of the Senate panel.
