Mark Herras Breaks Silence on Viral Gay Bar Dance

Actor and dancer Mark Herras recently addressed the controversy surrounding a viral video of him dancing in a gay entertainment bar in Paranaque City. During an interview with Toni Gonzaga-Soriano on Toni Talks, Mark clarified that his performance was purely work-related. He emphasized that it was unplanned and not intended for public spectacle.

Mark explained, “Hindi ko siya planado, kumbaga sumayaw ako kasi trabaho.” He clarified that he was simply fulfilling his role as a guest performer and not involved in any inappropriate behavior. The performance, which took place during an event in the bar, included a variety of entertainers, including drag queens and dancers, some of whom Mark knew personally.

“It was just dance. No problem,” he said. He further elaborated that his performance was no different from the gigs he does at fiestas—it just happened to take place in a gay bar. Mark made it clear that he did not engage in inappropriate behavior, explaining, “Hindi naman ako naghubad. I performed. I danced, like hip hop.”

Although the video generated mixed reactions online, Mark said he was unfazed by the backlash. He acknowledged the judgmental nature of Filipino society but stood firm in his perspective. “I know it’s a gay bar, but it’s because we Filipinos are terrible at judging people as if they think they have the right to judge others’ lives,” Mark stated.

Mark’s focus remains on providing for his family, and he expressed contentment with his decision to continue working in the entertainment industry, even if it means staying away from the limelight. “My goal is to provide,” he said.“ I’m happy that I still have a job.”

To his surprise, the video quickly went viral. However, Mark found comfort in the support he received from defenders. “I was surprised it went viral, but I was happy because some people defended me. I’m not asking for sympathy, but I’m at a stage in life where I don’t care about them.”

Mark Herras’ stance on the issue highlights his professionalism and focus on providing for his family while navigating the challenges of judgment in the public eye.
