Popular OPM band Parokya ni Edgar was stranded in Sorsogon due to the heavy rains brought by Tropical Storm Kristine. The band, which was in the city for their October 21 concert at the Kasanggayahan Festival, shared their situation on their Facebook page on Tuesday, October 22.
In their post, the band shared photos of themselves under the pouring rain, accompanied by the caption, “Stranded kami sa Sorsogon. ‘Di kami maka-uwi. Canceled lahat ng flights. Delikado din daw mag-roadtrip. So naligo na lang kami sa ulan.” (We are stranded in Sorsogon. We can’t go home. All flights were canceled. It is also not safe to go on a roadtrip, so we just bathed in the rain.)
Aside from Parokya ni Edgar, rappers Flow G and Skusta Clee were also scheduled to perform at the festival. However, it remains unclear if they were able to return to Metro Manila.
Tropical Storm Kristine intensified on Tuesday morning, leading to the cancellation of all remaining activities for the Kasanggayahan Festival. As of Tuesday evening, the eastern portion of Sorsogon (Barcelona, Gubat, Prieto Diaz) was under Tropical Storm Wind Signal No. 2, while the rest of the province was under TCWS No. 1.
The band’s predicament highlights the challenges faced by many Filipinos in the face of extreme weather conditions. As Tropical Storm Kristine continues to batter the Bicol region, Parokya and other stranded individuals are hoping for the situation to improve soon.
