As Miss Universe 2024 nears, Tyra Banks, a former supermodel and TV host, supports Chelsea Manalo, the Philippines’ delegate. Banks, known for promoting self-confidence and empowerment, shared her excitement for Chelsea, a Filipino-Black American beauty queen, on Instagram.
Under Chelsea’s headshot by Seven Barretto, Banks commented, “Get it, girl!” The bold statement quickly went viral, earning nearly 20,000 likes and a pin from Chelsea herself. Tyra didn’t stop there. She followed Chelsea’s page and commented again with “Work!” and a fire emoji on another photo series. These photos featured Chelsea’s natural curls against a stunning pink backdrop.
Chelsea’s reaction to Tyra’s support was pure joy. She shared a screenshot of the comment in her Instagram stories with an excited “OMG!!!!” Fans joined in, sharing the excitement. Even the Miss Universe Philippines Organization reposted Tyra’s comment, adding, “When the legend herself, Tyra Banks, notices our very own Miss Universe Philippines, Chelsea Manalo. You deserve all this!”
Tyra Banks’ History of Supporting Filipina Queens
This isn’t the first time Tyra has cheered on Filipina beauty queens. She previously supported Pia Wurtzbach and Catriona Gray, both of whom went on to win Miss Universe titles. Her encouragement fuels excitement around Chelsea’s journey, adding confidence as she prepares for the competition on November 16 in Mexico City.
Chelsea Makes History
Chelsea is the first Filipino-Black American to represent the Philippines at Miss Universe. Her unique background and advocacy for inclusivity add to her already strong presence, making her one to watch in this year’s competition.
