Angel Locsin’s Father, Angel Colmenares, Passes Away at 98

Angel M. Colmenares, father of actress Angel Locsin, passed away on March 5, 2025, at the age of 98. The family confirmed the news and requested privacy while expressing gratitude for the support and condolences.

Angel Colmenares was a former athlete who competed for the Philippine swimming team in the 1954 Asian Games. He helped secure a bronze medal in the 4×200-meter freestyle relay when the competition was held in the country.

His passing was announced by Joseph Colmenares, a councilor in Bago City, Negros Occidental, through a Facebook post. In particular, Joseph referred to him as “Lolo Budi” and noted that he was the brother of his grandfather, Jesus Colmenares.

The actress updated her Facebook profile to include a photo with her father. Shortly after, on March 6, she posted a heartfelt message:

“We love you, Daddy Angel. Forever in our hearts.”

Previously, Angel Locsin had spoken about her deep love and gratitude for her father. In 2019, she fulfilled his dream by purchasing a beachfront property in Zambales. She described it as a way to give back to the man who gave everything for their family.

She once shared:

“My father did his best to make my childhood happy. Now, it was my turn to give back.”

Angel Locsin also revealed that her father’s condition influenced her career decisions. She remained in showbiz longer than expected, hoping to save money for his eye operation.

“I stayed because I thought I could save enough. But I was too late.”

Despite her regrets, she said her father remained prayerful and at peace.

The Locsin family has asked for privacy as they mourn their loss. They expressed gratitude for the messages of sympathy and support from friends and fans.

Details of the wake and funeral arrangements have yet to be announced.
