Bea Alonzo has ventured into uncharted territory with her recent role in GMA 7’s murder-mystery series Widows’ War. Portraying Sam Castillo-Palacios, a determined woman seeking answers about her father’s murder, marked a notable departure from the romantic roles that defined much of Bea’s career.
In an interview during GMA Regional TV’s Sinulog activities in Cebu City, Bea described her journey of playing a character without a romantic subplot. “When I take on a role, you don’t always agree with the character, but you need to make it work,” she said.
Sam’s relentless search for the truth brought personal and external turmoil, providing Bea with profound realizations. “Sometimes, it’s better to focus on being a good person than being right,” she shared.
The series offered a fresh lens for Bea to explore grey areas of morality. Sam’s choices often led to unintended consequences, prompting Bea to reflect on trusting the timing of life’s revelations. “Sometimes, it’s better to trust the universe or God to reveal the truth when it’s time,” she explained.
Bea expressed her excitement about venturing into diverse roles. “I want to focus on projects that allow me to explore complex characters,” she noted, adding that such stories resonate deeply with her and her audience.
The actress emphasized the value of scripts that ignite a personal connection. “The moment I touch a script and feel a spark, I know it’s worth doing,” she said.
Widows’ War, co-starring Carla Abellana, Jean Garcia, and Timmy Cruz, challenged Bea to push her limits. Despite the intense material, Bea found the process therapeutic. “Doing this teleserye became my escape. It allowed me to release pent-up emotions,” she admitted.

Beyond acting, Bea has expanded into entrepreneurship. Her travel accessories brand, Bash, is launching a new collection this year. She also hinted at a second business venture, demonstrating her commitment to being hands-on despite a packed schedule.
When asked about her love life, Bea shared her perspective on waiting for the right timing. “You don’t need to look for love. It will find you,” she said. For Bea, patience is a virtue that applies not just to relationships but to life’s broader journey.
Bea’s role in Widows’ War and her personal reflections reveal her dedication to growth. She continues to redefine her career, embodying versatility and resilience in every step forward.
