Actress Jessy Mendiola is set to return to television after a five-year hiatus. The 32-year-old celebrity will star in the upcoming ABS-CBN series Nobody, reuniting with Gerald Anderson, her co-star from the 2011 drama Budoy.
Jessy expressed excitement about her comeback. “I told my bosses I value my time with family,” she shared. To accommodate her schedule, her Star Magic team promised fair arrangements. Other cast members include RK Bagatsing and JC De Vera. The series is slated to begin mid-2025.
Jessy last appeared in the primetime drama Sandugo in 2019. Reflecting on her hiatus, she credited it as a time for personal growth. “I needed to prioritize my personal life. I’ve healed and grown so much,” she said.
A Balanced Career and Family Life
During her break, Jessy focused on raising her two-year-old daughter, Rosie, and supporting her husband, actor-turned-politician Luis Manzano.
Luis Manzano, now running for vice governor of Batangas, has Jessy’s unwavering support. The campaign has been a major focus for the couple. “Luis is generous and smart. He wants to serve the people,” she shared. Luis will run alongside his mother, Vilma Santos, who is seeking the gubernatorial seat, while his brother Ryan Christian aims for a congressional position.
Jessy, recently renewed as the brand ambassador for Manila Diamond Studio, attended the opening of a branch in Las Piñas on January 18. Her partnership with the jewelry brand began in 2021 when she purchased her wedding bands.
“I prefer investing in jewelry over bags or shoes,” she revealed. Her most prized piece remains her engagement ring, a gift from Luis. “Jewelry has sentimental value. I plan to pass my collection to Rosie someday.”
Jessy plans to expand her family after the elections. “I hope to have three kids, maybe a boy next and another girl,” she shared. For now, she’s enjoying Rosie’s “drama queen” antics, which she jokingly attributes to Vilma Santos.
