Vilma Santos Tackles Her Most Challenging Role in Uninvited. Vilma Santos, the “Star for All Seasons,” is making waves ahead of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) with her role in the thriller Uninvited. Portraying Eva, a grieving mother consumed by vengeance, Santos says the character pushed her to her limits physically and emotionally.
After more than 60 years in the entertainment industry, Santos continues to seek roles that challenge her and offer something new. “It’s hard to find a role that fits my age and still challenges me,” she said during a press interview. “With Uninvited, I found a character I hadn’t done before, something different.”
The film’s intensity affected her both on and off set. Santos revealed that during one particularly demanding scene, her blood pressure spiked to 140/90, forcing the team to temporarily halt filming. “They had to pack up because of my BP, but I told them, ‘No, let’s finish!’” she shared. Despite the health scare, Santos completed the scene, proud of the work they achieved.
Director Dan Villegas and the team at Project 8 Productions motivated Santos to push her performance further. “Direk Dan looked for something new in me, something I hadn’t done before. That kind of motivation helped me deliver a different Eva,” Santos explained.
The film boasts a star-studded cast including Aga Muhlach, Nadine Lustre, and Tirso Cruz III, with support from Mylene Dizon, Lotlot de Leon, Elijah Canlas, and more. Produced by Mentorque Productions and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, Uninvited promises to be a standout in the MMFF lineup.
For Santos, the project is more than a film; it’s a testament to her dedication to her craft and her enduring desire to challenge herself, even after decades of success.
