Chelsea Manalo of the Philippines has been named the first-ever Miss Universe Asia, marking a proud moment for Filipinos worldwide. The announcement came during the Miss Universe 2024 post-pageant press conference in Mexico City. Despite falling short of the main title, Chelsea secured her place in history by becoming the inaugural queen of the newly introduced continental title.

In a heartfelt video shared on Instagram, Chelsea greeted her fellow Filipinos, saying, “Mabuhay ang Pilipinas! We are making history as Miss Universe Asia.” The victory has ignited pride across the Philippines, celebrating her achievement in the competitive field of beauty and advocacy.

Chelsea competed against 125 contestants in this year’s Miss Universe pageant. While her journey in the main competition ended in the Top 30, her performance stood out. She showcased the “Tampisaw Walk” during the swimsuit segment, a tribute to her roots and the Philippines’ vibrant culture.

As Miss Universe Asia, Chelsea will take on responsibilities akin to those of the reigning Miss Universe, serving as an ambassador for her region. Her role includes traveling across Asia and participating in activities organized by the Miss Universe organization.

This year’s Miss Universe crown went to Victoria Kjaer Theilvig of Denmark, who wore “The Light of Infinity,” a Filipino-designed crown by Jewelmer. Alongside Chelsea, other continental queens were recognized: Finland’s Matilda Wirtavuori for Europe and the Middle East, Peru’s Tatiana Calmell for the Americas, and Nigeria’s Chidimma Adetshina for Africa and Oceania.

Chelsea’s achievement resonates beyond pageantry, highlighting the representation and empowerment of Asian women on the global stage. Her journey continues to inspire Filipinos and many others across Asia as she begins her new role with dedication and pride.
