Kris Aquino Makes First Public Appearance Amid Health Struggles

Kris Aquino attended the People Asia People of the Year 2025 awards on February 25, marking her first public appearance since seeking treatment in the United States for autoimmune conditions.

The Queen of All Media arrived to support her close friend, Filipino fashion designer Michael Leyva, one of the night’s awardees. During a press interview, Kris expressed her deep appreciation for Michael’s unwavering support, highlighting his constant presence in her life. She shared how he has taken on a fatherly role for Bim and Kuya, describing him as more than just a friend but the younger brother she never had.

“There are people who say na ‘I will be there for you’ or ‘maaasahan mo ako.’ But Michael has proven that so many times and in so many ways,” she said.

Kris also joked about his generosity:

“And he gave his two cars to us. Nakompromisa ka na.”

Kris’s appearance coincided with the 39th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution, a pivotal event in Philippine history. Her parents, Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. and former President Corazon “Cory” Aquino, played key roles in the movement that restored democracy in 1986.

Unaware of the date at first, Kris laughed when she realized the significance:

“I actually thought today was the 24th. When I was told it was the 25th, I said, ‘Perfect! What a perfect coming out.’”

Kris, 54, admitted she was feeling unwell during the event.

“I’m not so okay. Nahihilo ako.” when asked how she was. 

She apologized for arriving late, explaining that a new medication made waking up difficult.

Her health remains fragile, and she continues to receive treatment. In September 2024, Kris returned to the Philippines after two years in the U.S. She remains under medical supervision, and doctors have yet to clear her for work.

Despite ongoing challenges, Kris Aquino continues to show strength and gratitude for the love and support she receives.
