Kris Bernal Makes Acting Comeback with “Tadhana: Abo ng Kahapon”

After a two-year hiatus to focus on motherhood, Kris Bernal has returned to television with the drama anthology series, Tadhana: Abo ng Kahapon. The actress, who welcomed her first child, Hailee Lucca, in August 2023, portrays a mother who moves to America in hopes of providing a better life for her family.

In this three-part series, Bernal’s character faces multiple challenges. After relocating, she becomes a caregiver to an elderly man who abuses her. Meanwhile, her husband, who remains in the Philippines, cheats on her. Adding to the turmoil, both of their areas fall victim to devastating fires.

Kris Bernal shared her mixed feelings about returning to acting. On Instagram, she explained that she initially had doubts about whether she could still act after her time away from the screen. “I never thought I would return to acting on TV after 2 years+ of motherhood break,” she wrote. She also revealed that being an exclusive breastfeeding mother played a role in her hesitation.

Despite these concerns, Kris Bernal reflected on the importance of moving forward and establishing new routines with her daughter, Hailee. “Perhaps it’s time for Hailee and I to move forward and try to establish new routines and habits,” she shared. After much thought, she decided to accept the role, mentioning that three days of taping wouldn’t be too overwhelming for her and her daughter.

The actress has not ruled out further acting projects but emphasized that for now, she can only commit to short-term roles. She hinted that a return to a full teleserye might come later. Tadhana: Abo ng Kahapon premieres on Saturday at 3:15 p.m. on GMA-7, with additional streams available on GMA Public Affairs’ Facebook and YouTube.
